CURRENT SAVE THE EARTH PLANS:
His name in the current timeline is Kenneth "Ken" Bernal; he's the adopted son of a very nice, well off Latin American couple. His dad is a dentist, his mom is a lawyer. They live in California; he was adopted very, very young, and has no memories of his birth parents. (Side note: single mother who put him up for adoption because of funds and etc.) He has no issues with the Bernals being his ~~real parents or anything, they're a well-adjusted family. The Brands also have a daughter, also adopted, who is younger than Ken.
Ken was a normal student in school; he's goofy and friendly but not remarkably weird or anything. He played baseball in high school, but it was never a long-term plan. He was a lifeguard at the local YMCA, and a situation where he had to actually use his CPR skills to save some dumb kid in the deep end cemented what he wanted to do with his life.
Thus Ken Bernal entered college looking to get a Nursing degree! He graduated with a B of S in Nursing Science several years ago, and after a period spent in the children's wing of a large California hospital, he swapped around to the ER, which is where he's found his niche. But California is an expensive place to live, and after his roommate declared he was moving to Arizona to chase another degree, Ken was looking at having to maybe move back in with his parents. Not happening, not at 27! So he turned his eyes elsewhere, for places where he could get a job quite similar to the one he had already, but maybe lower costs some, and thus wound up getting a job in Locke.
He moves to Locke City right before he appears on the network. His first echo is (probably) the Change Beetle/Ace of Spades card from his deck.
